Nritya Competition


Nritya is an annual online Dance competition organized by Art Journal Foundation that aims to strengthen creative skills and express ideas and thoughts through Dance.

Categories:


  • A: Grades 1, 2 and 3
  • B: Grades 4 and 5
  • C: Grades 6, 7 and 8
  • D: Grades 9, 10, 11 and 12

Prizes:


  • Each category
  • 1st Prize: 3000/- INR
  • 2nd Prize: 2000/- INR

All winners and participants will get an eCertificate.

Type of Entry: Solo performance

Theme: Five Elements of Nature (Water, Fire, Earth, Air, Space)

The participants are required to choreograph on the theme ‘Elements of Nature’ highlighting the importance of these elements in our lives. They can choose to depict one element or incorporate all five in their choreography.

Instructions:


  • 1. Each participant is allowed to submit ONLY one entry for Nritya.
  • 2. Participants can use one genre or a combination of genres appropriate to address the theme. No special points given based on the number of genres used as the objective should be to address the theme effectively.
  • 3. Participants will be required to send a maximum 4 minutes duration dance video on the selected theme to the song of their choice.
  • 4. Video must be shot in horizontal orientation.
  • 5. Participants must keep the use of props and costumes at the minimum range.
  • 6. Participants must follow the given theme and must send only a self-choreographed performance.

Submission Guidelines:


  • 1. Submissions to the competition to be uploaded on the submission link, that will be received on your registered mail ID, as a video in an MP4 format, maximum size 20MB.
  • 2. Participants are responsible for including their music with their video submission.
  • 3. When submitting, please label your video file with your name, category for clear identification, for example:
    Nameofthestudent_CategoryName_Nritya.mp4

Criteria for Judgement:


The following elements of artistic expression will be judged for the dance performance submitted:

Performance: Overall performance and depicted theme’s creativity and uniqueness.

Technique: The clarity of dance technique used and optimum usage of space.

Originality: The performance’s originality and creativity.

Musicality: Connection of the music to the dance theme. Overall rhythm/ timing in the movement.

Showmanship: Appeal/ excitement created by the performance as a work of Art.
