Theme: Disconnected in a Connected World

We live in a world that seems more connected than ever, through phones, social media, and technology. Yet, many people feel more alone, unheard, or unseen.

This theme invites you to explore this contrast.

Think about what it means to be connected, yet feel disconnected. Is it about people ignoring each other in real life? Is it about being lost in screens? Or is it about finding new ways to truly connect?

The participants are required to craft a solo performance that explores the feeling of being disconnected in a connected world.

Performance Categories to choose from:

- Monologues: Monologues: Participants can create a character who feels disconnected despite being surrounded by connections.

- Role Play: Participants can enact short scenes or interactions involving characters (imaginary) who experience emotional distance in a digitally connected world.

- Storytelling:Participants can tell original short stories that revolve around the theme of feeling disconnected in a connected world.

Registration Fees:

- For students in India: 150 INR

- For students in UAE: 15 AED

- For students in any other country: 10 USD

Instructions:

• 1. Each participant is allowed to submit ONLY one entry for Natya.
• 2. Each participant will perform a solo act based on the theme.
• 3. The performance must be a monologue, it may involve interactions with imaginary characters or objects
• 4. Participants are encouraged to use creative elements, such as costumes, props, lighting, and sound effects, to enhance their performance.
• 5. Participants will be required to send a maximum 5 minutes duration performance video that must be shot in horizontal orientation.
• 6. Performances can be in any language, but non-English performances should provide English Subtitles or a brief translation.

Submission Guidelines:

• 1. The recording should be clear, well-lit, and free from technical glitches.
• 2. Submissions to the competition to be uploaded on the submission link, that will be received on your registered mail ID, as a video in an MP4 format, maximum size 150 MB.
• 3. Participants are responsible for including their music (if any) with their video submission
• 4. When submitting, please label your video file with your name, category for clear identification, for example: Nameofthestudent_CategoryName_Natya.mp4

Criteria for Judgement:

The performances will be judged based on the following criteria:

1. Emotion Portrayal: The depth and authenticity of emotions expressed, the actor’s ability to evoke a genuine emotional response from the audience.

2. Artistic Expression: Creativity, originality, and use of theatrical elements to enhance the performance, including costume, props, and set (if applicable).

3. Clarity and Diction: Clear enunciation and projection of voice, ensuring the audience can understand the emotions conveyed.

4. Overall Impact: The overall impact and effectiveness of the performance in engaging and connecting with the audience.

5. Interpretation of the element's theme: Creativity and originality in the performance.
